Advent begins four Sundays before Christmas, at which time we adorn the church for the season and spend time in fellowship. Advent is a season of waiting; we anticipate the presence of Jesus in the following ways:
Giving Tree | Sunday, November 27, at 4:30 PM
The Giving Tree returns! Help local families this Christmas by fulfilling Christmas wishes. The program begins on Sunday, November 27th. You may grab a ticket or two in the Narthex. Please return all gifts to St. John’s by Sunday, December 11th, and they will be delivered to DCF and our local Essex Social Services. Gifts can be left in the office or the Christmas tree in the Narthex. Please sign out your tag on the clipboard with your contact information, and please DO NOT wrap your gifts. A gift bag with loose tissue paper is perfect.
Intergenerational Advent Wreath Making | Sunday, November 27, at 9 AM
We invite all ages to join us as we decorate our shared fellowship space in the Parish Hall! We will adorn the room with decorations and put beautiful ornaments on the Christmas tree. We will also mark the beginning of Advent together by creating handmade Advent wreaths for your home.
Caroling, Chili & Cocoa | Sunday, December 3, at 4 PM
Christmas Caroling, Chili, and Charlie Brown! We gather outside in front of the church and go caroling together. Afterwards, warm up with a chili supper at the church and watch A Charlie Brown Christmas.
