There is a balm in Gilead
to make the wounded whole
There is a balm in Gilead
to heal the sin sick soul

In the Old Testament, Gilead was famous for its physicians and its ointment made from a gum tree in that area. It was supposed to have miraculous healing power. Jesus is our balm in Gilead, “to heal the sin sick soul.”

This Ash Wednesday, Arielle Burke is playing the spiritual, Balm in Gilead on her flute for us. You know Arielle from the Lessons and Carols and the Valentine videos she made for us, but her profession is musician and teacher. Arielle is the daughter of Laurie and Ken Burke.

Please enjoy this very peaceful arrangement by Arielle as you prepare for Ash Wednesday.

Giving others peace and joy is a very special gift. It’s so nice that Arielle has been sharing her talents to do that for us. Thank you both for this lovely piece and also for the earlier video of the children and their parents making valentines. The way the scriptures on Love floated through that video was so meaningful.

Another home run, thank you Arielle and Darlene
