Lift Thine Eyes

Our musical offering this week, Lift Thine Eyes, comes from Elijah, the oratorio by Felix Mendelssohn. Elijah, is the story of the Old Testament prophet and premiered in 1848. This anthem, sung by an angelic trio, appears after Elijah escapes to the wilderness in despair and prays for the end of his life. It is taken directly from Psalm 121 and the text appears below.

Gerri Smith, Chris Woodside and Nancy Lewandowski are our trio and Scott Konrad has produced the audio mix. Thank you, all four of you, for your time and efforts putting this together for us for our weekly offering.  We love variety and if anyone would like to participate, we would welcome your help,  either musical or technical support. Everything is done from home, but you need internet. Please email Darlene James to volunteer.

Lift thine eyes, O lift thine eyes to the mountains

Whence cometh help

Thy help cometh from the Lord, the Maker of Heaven and Earth

He has said thy foot shall not be moved

Thy keeper shall never slumber

Lift thine eyes, O lift thine eyes to the mountains

Whence cometh help
