Sandy and Paul Loether

Make Me a Channel of Your Peace by Sebastian Temple, 1928-1997; acc. by Robert J. Batastini, b. 1924

Our music offering this week is a lovely arrangement of the hymn Make Me a Channel of YourPeace for guitar and flute by Sandy and Paul Loether. ( Sandy is the daughter of Bill and Helen Chatman and has joined us on occasion to sing alto in our choir. Paul has played guitar for us many times, but most recently Christmas Eve services). Although we do not know who actually wrote the text of this hymn, this very popular folk version is by Sebastian Temple and it first appeared in 1967. It is also called The Prayer of St. Francis as it has themes of transformation; from darkness to light, from despair to hope, from hatred to love.

Thank you, Sandy and Paul, for sharing your talents and this beautiful arrangement with us.
