For the past couple of years, the Giving Tree has been a staple ministry at St. John’s for advent and Christmas! Our community chips in to help parents who are struggling to provide a hearty Christmas morning. Our congregation and friends have helped hundreds of families in Middlesex County and the local Essex Town Hall.
This year, we are back to conquer the gift of giving, but we look slightly different due to COVID-19. The Giving Tree will be offering a virtual sign-up sheet that we will provide the link to very soon, and it still gives you the option to pick a child based on their likes, age, and gender.
For those who still want to participate but don’t feel comfortable coming down to the church for drop-off, you may purchase on retailer sites and have it shipped directly to the church!
Our P.O. Box 422, Essex, CT, will hold our deliveries until one of the church staff can pick it up, or if it does not allow for our P.O., you may ship it to 3 Cross Street, Essex, CT, and it will arrive safely. We can also schedule drop-off for the Giving Tree. To do so, please call 860-767-8095 and leave a message or firstname.lastname@example.org.
Another consideration when ordering presents online this year for the Giving Tree and throughout the holiday season is to use AmazonSmile on Amazon! St. John’s AmazonSmile account is called, “St Johns Episcopal Church Samuel M Hayden Fund Tr Uw.”
We look forward to filling a cavern of holiday gifts to our friends at Child and Families, and can only do so with your giving hearts!
