Lenten Quiet Day
Saturday, March 18th, from 9:00 AM to 2:00 PM

The Liturgical Calendar has Lent appearing just as our secular calendars move us from winter into early spring. Both speak to the transition from “lessening darkness” to “increasing light.” The realities of life can dim our expectations of that increasing light’s ability to lift our collective spirits and empower us with hope. With all of that in mind, we invite you to participate in “A Quiet Day in Lent;” a time to retreat, reflect and restore ourselves.

On Saturday March 18, from 9:00 AM to 2:00 PM, St. John’s will open our doors to those seeking a peaceful, spiritual respite. We will begin with a brief service of Morning Prayer. The highlight of the day will be a reading of the entire Gospel of Mark from The Saint John’s Bible led by volunteers in attendance. Following the approximate two hours of the reading, there will be several opportunities for you to continue reflection or prayerful meditation. In a quiet space, a light lunch will be provided and, to that end, we request that you consider a donation of $10 to help defray our costs. The day will end with a Celebration of the Eucharist at 1:00 PM.

Rev. Kate has referred to St. John’s as a “spa for our souls.” The purpose of a spa has been described as a place where you can go to relax your body and your mind. “A Quiet Day in Lent” offers you the opportunity to extend that relaxation to your soul.
